Chilean Enrique Rodríguez and the Negra Chiway Band release Latin spiritual jazz debut on Soul Jazz Records
Chilean composer, percussionist, keyboardist, and producer Enrique Rodríguez and his Negra Chiway Band have released an incredible spiritual jazz album on London’s Soul Jazz Records, titled Fase Liminal.
This brilliant seven-track debut recording features a unique blending of hypnotic and deep spiritual grooves fused together with cosmic atmospheric tones, powerful brass and flutes, Latin-influenced percussion rhythms, and chanting vocals. The record also includes elements of the Akira Kurosawa-style Samurai film soundtracks. In all, the album feels like a mix of 60s era Impulse! Records jazz (Coltrane/Phaorah Sanders) with the Afro-futuristic vibes of the Sun Ra Arkestra.
Released as a very limited one-off unique pressing of 1000-edition vinyl, I expect physical copies of this album to sellout quickly. Overall, an absolute must-own for spiritual jazz enthusiasts. Highly recommended!
