This week’s BeatCaffeine Record Rundown highlights the brilliant new spiritual jazz album from Tony Burkill’s Work Money Death, a remix release from Italian bassist Rosa Brunello, the Jonny Liebeck Group’s cosmic 7-inch single on Terrasolare, and the celebratory Frisson EP Part 1 on Steve Conry’s superb Ten Lovers Music label.
This year’s first edition of BeatCaffeine’s Weekly Record Rundown, we highlight the much-anticipated new album from Chris Bangs and Mick Talbot, Japan’s 45 Trio and their new Jazz Room Records 7inch celebrating Brazilian piano great Tenorio Jr., in addition to a couple “must-own” releases that came out near the end of last year from Lance Ferguson and Louie Vega’s Elements of Life.
It’s 2026, however before turning attention to the new year, here is one final “best of” list for 2025, highlighting some of the standout compilations that came out over the past twelve months. From funky deep jazz and spiritual grooves to obscure global selections, these well-crafted releases illuminated incredible gems in a carefully curated format.
For our second year-end list, we spotlight 10 standout EP releases from 2025. As in recent years, this list notably includes some superb selections from two standout UK-based labels that continue to put out forward-thinking jazz fusion and peak-time dancefloor material in Steve Conry’s Ten Lovers Music and Colin Curtis Presents imprint. This overall selection of EPs are arguably up their with the year’s best full-length albums, when it comes to quality and impact.
It’s that time of year again, when we look back on some of the year’s best albums. As in previous years, we’ll start with the top new releases, followed by deep dives into standout reissues, EPs, compilations, tracks, and more in the days and weeks ahead.
Catching up on some essential releases over the last couple of weeks — this edition of BeatCaffeine’s Weekly Record Rundown highlight’s the superb debut Brazilian flavored album from Babo Moreno, the incredible collaborative EP featuring Brian Jackson, Masters at Work, Omar and others, and the return of two prominent UK-based groups that have released brand new albums, Ruby Rushton and Da Lata.
For this edition of BeatCaffeine’s Weekly Record Rundown, we highlight the second EP from the new duo project from Italian producers Nicola Conte and Nico Lahs, as well as incredible new 7inch singles from Ella & The Bossa Beat, and Chris Bangs and Mick Talbot, along with the new highly improvisational full-length from Leeds-based 15-piece spiritual jazz ensemble Ancient Infinity Orchestra.
For this week’s BeatCaffeine Record Rundown (it was a massive week for new music!), we highlight new full-length albums from both saxophonist and flautist Chip Wickham and keyboardist and producer Yoni Mayraz, along with the latest EP from UK-based The Earthsouls on Colin Curtis Presents, and the must-own 7inch by Orchestra Mambo International on Echo Chamber Recordings.

Soul Stirrin’ is a new compilation from the Italian label Right Tempo/Mono Jazz, curated by label boss Rocco Pandiani and Art Director Giulio “Jazzy Jules” Maini. This release serves as the launch of their The Jazz Sinners series which showcases seductive and thrilling jazz cuts from the 1950s and early 1960s.
Legendary UK-based DJ Paul Murphy and his label Jazz Room Records has recently released a brilliant new compilation featuring fresh new renditions of notable jazz dancefloor staples, appropriately titled Jazz Room Presents: Covers.
Pioneering Japanese-based DJ and music producer Shuya Okino returns with a brilliant new three-track EP from his Kyoto Jazz Sextet, titled Dosojin No Uta. This full-scale jazz-focused group formed back in 2015 in celebration of his groundbreaking project, Kyoto Jazz Massive.
For this edition of BeatCaffeine’s Weekly Record Rundown, we dive into the new incredible genre-defying album from London’s Kokoroko, two brilliant EPs from Buenos Aires-based DFRA Experience Jazz Band and Brazilian pianist Michel Cury (released on Colin Curtis Presents), and the most recent full-length from Leeds-based Ethio-jazz inspired quartet, The Sorcerers.
