Brazilian legend Marcos Valle releases new 80s boogie-inspired album ‘Sempre’
Brazilian legend Marcos Valle, who has made his mark as one of the greatest songwriters, arrangers, and performers over the past sixty years, returns with his first new full-length album in nine years featuring a heavy dose of 80s boogie-influenced party music.
For his fifth release off of the Brazilian focused London-based label Far Out Recordings, the “original Rio beach boy” turns back the clock and taps back into the same seminal 80s boogie sound that produced post-disco classics like “Estrelar” (1983) and “A Paraíba Não é Chicago” (1981). This new recording, titled Sempre, is incredible from start to finish, blending together cosmic samba, spacey jazz-funk, pop melodies, and synth-heavy grooves.
The album also features another Brazilian legend in Azymuth bassist Alex Malheiros, along with a horn section that includes trumpeter Jesse Sadoc, and percussion master Armando Marcal. Far Out’s visionary in-house producer Daniel Maunick, son of Incognito’s frontman Jean-Paul ‘Bluey’ Maunick, handled the recordings production.
Released just in time for the warm summer months, this brilliant recording is primed perfectly for tropical dance floors around the globe. Overall, another well-written and produced masterpiece that only further adds to Marcos Valle’s remarkable legacy.
