Bernardo Pinheiro & The Amazon Orchestra - Virabrequim

Bernardo Pinheiro puts out new rendition of Marcos Valle and Azymuth’s “Virabrequim”

Following a string of sought-after 12inch releases and re-dits on labels like Barefoot Beats, Cocada Music, Kampana and others, Pará-based producer Bernardo Pinheiro has recently released an incredible new rendition of Marcos Valle and Azymuth’s classic jazz dance gem “Virabrequim”, from the 1973 soundtrack “O Fabuloso Fittipaldi”.

Building off the foundation of the original, which features swinging piano, funky basslines and soaring horn melodies, this new disco-fied rendition pushes things forward, adding additional percussion production, a guitar and trombone solo, while replacing the acoustic piano with some cosmic Rhodes and synth lines.

On the flip, acclaimed French producer Voilaaa, who has released a number of great albums and remixes for Favorite Recordings, slows things down just slightly with a funky broken beat rework that can truly stand on its own.

Joining Pinheiro on the session is Harley Bichara (saxophonist), Nego Jô (trombone), Lenilson Albuquerque (Rhodes), Kim Freitas (guitar), and Dunga (bass).

As the weather continues to warm up over the next couple of months, Bernardo Pinheiro and company have produced one of the potential dancefloor heaters of the summer.
