BeatCaffeine’s Weekly Record Rundown 08.29.25
For this week’s BeatCaffeine Record Rundown, we highlight a few notable releases that came out over the summer, including the new acoustic piano trio album from Greg Foat, Jihad Darwish, and Moses Boyd, plus highly recommended jazz dancefloor 7inch heaters from Central, Shuya Okino, MonsieurWilly and Natalie Nova.

Greg Foat, Jihad Darwish, Moses Boyd — ‘Opening Time’
(Blue Crystal Records)
Highly acclaimed pianist Greg Foat, who’s been one of the most active and prolific artists among the UK jazz scene, has teamed up with two incredible and accomplished musicians in their own right in bassist Jihad Darwish and drummer Moses Boyd to release an acoustic-focused trio session, titled Opening Time. This release, which is one of Foat’s finest works and stands out as one of the most enjoyable trio albums of the year, draws direct on the lineage from those classic piano trio sessions by Ahmad Jamal, Bill Evans, Oscar Peterson, Bobby Timmons, and others.

Central — ‘Brazilian Rhyme’ 7″
(Flower Records)
Japanese-based ensemble Central has recently released a must-own 7inch single on Flower Records featuring a Latin-flavored rendition of the Earth, Wind & Fire classic “Brazilian Rhyme”. On the flip, DJ Kawasaki reworks the band’s much sought-after salsa-inspired 2023 single “Samurai”. With two dancefloor heaters front-to-back, this is definitely one of the best releases of 2025!

MonsieurWilly & Natalie Nova — ‘I Believe In Miracle’ 7″
(Funky French League)
French producer MonsieurWilly and vocalist Natalie Nova have teamed up to put a fresh new vibrant take on The Jackson Sisters’ classic “I Believe In Miracles”. This new rendition maintains the foundation of the original while incorporating a sun-drenched Latin inspired rhythm, piano and guitars, resulting in prime scorcher for the dancefloor. Another one of the year’s best singles!

Shuya Okino ft. feat Navasha Daya — ‘Thank You / Give Your Love A Chance (remixes)’ 7″
(Kawasaki Records)
For this superb new 7inch from Kawasaki Records, legendary NYC DJ and producer Danny Krivit re-edits Sleep Walker’s version of Shuya Okino’s all-time jazz dance classic “Thank You” featuring vocalist Navasha Daya. On the flip, DJ Kawasaki edits a Dimitri Form Paris mix of Okino’s disco-funk gem “Give Your Love A Chance” featuring Clara Hill and Root Souls. Don’t sleep, this one should sell out quickly!
