A Bossa Elétrica’s samba version of Roy Ayer’s ‘Everybody Loves The Sunshine’ released on 7inch
Just in time to catch the last few warm sunny days of what has to be the most bizarre summer of our lifetimes, the UK-based label WallenBink have released, for the first time officially on 7inch format, A Bossa Elétrica’s brilliant Brazilian fusion rendition of Roy Ayer’s 1976 essential jazz-funk classic “Everybody Loves The Sunshine”.
Originally featured on the Brazilian-influenced Swedish ensemble’s CD-only 2011 album, this extremely limited-edition release not only features the group’s incredible funky electric samba version of “Everybody Loves The Sunshine” (appropriately re-named “Sob A Luz Do Sol”), however the 7inch also includes the album’s title track “Do Norte”, which features some nice mellow Balearic grooves.
With the first pressing of this releasing selling out instantly, I highly recommend visiting Sounds of The Universe (currently the only record shop I see selling it, however I’m sure there will be a few others) and pre-ordering a copy of the second pressing (DO NOT pay the high prices on Discogs!), which comes out October 2nd. This is one of those must-own 7inch releases that you absolutely do not want to sleep on.
